Photographing in New York City can sometimes be a bit of a challenge if what you are looking to photograph are scenes which do not include people. There are people at all hours of the day and night in the “City that never Sleeps”.

Although I do like photographing people, there are times when from a compositional or story telling point of view things just do not fall into place. These are the times that I particularly like to look all around me and concentrate on either details, patterns or interesting compositions which depict the Big Apple.

My photographs of NYC in this post where all captured hand held on a bright over cast day during a walk by shooting. I converted them to black and white using Nik’s Software Silver Efex Pro 2.
